There are many different types, brands, and most importantly prices. We’ll have everything for all price ranges and skill levels in this article. Make sure to bookmark it for convenience too. Also, a few things to note, I strongly recommend hand washing all cookware. Even if it says dishwasher safe, the water and soap can be too strong or hot and it can tarnish the pans or even remove some of the coatings.
Non-stick pans are usually everyone’s first set. They are forgiving and simple to use, but there are issues with them. First, when heated to high temperatures the pan’s coating can break down and release chemics into the air. While still considered safe for use, nonstick pans should not be used in a house with pet birds, as the fumes from nonstick pans can kill them.
On the plus side, they are easy to use, and as lo nonstick does have a plus side, they are easy to use, and as long as you keep the heat down, safe for normal use. The nonstick coating on these pans also lets you cook without the use of oil or butter, making for a healthier meal. And cooking anything like eggs or cheese in nonstick pans will save you a lot of grief down the road.
$500-600 Range
Like most things in this life, you get what you pay for, but that doesn’t mean you need to take out a loan to get a good pan set. Here are our recommendations by price range.
This is going to be the top of the line for nonstick cookware. Brands like All-Clad will be in this range. These pots and pans will usually be oven safe and made by very reputable companies and will have safety in mind. Their coating bonding is applied in a safe manner and will last for quite a long time if you follow the correct care for nonstick items.
All-Clad HA1 Nonstick 10 Piece Cookware Set
All-Clad Ha1 Cookware 10 Piece SetAll-Clad is known to home cooks and chefs all over the world. They are one of the best and highest-rated products out there. The All-Clad HA1 series is made from hard-anodized (where the HA in HA1 comes from) aluminum, which heats quickly and has a stainless steel base to ensure even heating. These are also compatible with induction stoves and are oven safe up to 500℉, which is usually something you don’t get in less expensive products.
Viking Culinary 10 Piece Cookware Set
Viking Culinary Nonstick Cookware Set, 10 PieceViking, like All-Clad, is one of the leaders in the cookware space. They makes all their pots and pans with care and quality and their hard-anodized nonstick sets are no different. These are made in the same style of aluminum and a stainless steel bottom that is induction compatible. Also, these are oven safe up to 500℉. This Viking set also includes measurements on the inside of the saucepans and pots. That is a nice feature for some and completely useless for others, it all depends on personal preferences.
Both these pots and pans sets are expensive for sure, but if you are explicitly looking for a nonstick set that will outperform and will last a long time if the price is no matter, then these are definitely the winners.
$300-400 range
This is the midrange for nonstick cookware. Here is where we start seeing some more of the premium features like oven-safe, but we start to lose induction compatibility and a few other features here. You can also pop into this price range and get some of the premium brands like All-Clad in smaller sets. This way you can save money and keep the higher oven temps and induction capability.
Calphalon Premier Nonstick 11-Piece Cookware Set
Calphalon Premier Nonstick 11-Piece SetCalphalon is a pretty standard name in the pots and pans world. They made good products for the price, especially in their premium sets. This set does not include the stainless steel bottom, because of that they are not induction compatible and will probably have some minor hotspot issues depending on your stove. The perk of this set is that it’s 11 pieces and is oven safe to 450℉.
All-Clad HA1 Nonstick 8 Piece Cookware Set
All-Clad HA1 Hard, 8-Piece Cookware SetThis is the same All-Clad product as above, but with two fewer pieces. If you want the All-Clad quality and can live without the 4.5qt saucepan and its lid, then definitely look at these.
$100-200 Range
This is your entry-level range for pots and pans. Here you’ll usually find large sets of easy-to-use cookware. You won’t be finding things like stainless steel bottoms or induction compatible in this price range. These are meant for people who cook often and want something better than budget sets. Some are also great for kitchen beginners, with features like heat indicators. In here you can find a large range of quality and you should be careful about what you get. You could end up with a great set that will last for years, or you might be shopping again next year.
Calphalon Classic Nonstick 10 Piece Cookware Set
Calphalon Classic Hard-Anodized Nonstick Pots and Pans, Cookware SetLike we said earlier, Calphalon makes a lot of very good products. For just shy of $200 you get a set with everything you need to get in the kitchen. They are oven safe up to 450℉ have pour spouts to have your arm from some burns and measurements etched into the inside. For the price this is a very good set, this is actually only the oven-safe nonstick pans in this price tier.
Rachel Ray Cucina 12 Piece Nonstick Cookware Set
Rachael Ray Cucina Nonstick Cookware Pots and Pans Set, 12 Piece, Pumpkin OrangeThis was my first real cookware set. And before you ask yes it was because of the name and they were orange. I actually had that set for about 10 years too. I finally donated the last saucepan last year. These were excellent introductory pans that I seriously got my mileage out of. They don’t have any special features but they worked quite well for me.
T-Fal All-In-One Nonstick Cookware Set
T-fal All-In-One Hard Anodized Dishwasher Safe Nonstick Cookware Set, 12-Piece, BlackT-Fal is a very common name in low-cost cookware. This set is great for its price. They come with some extra little comforts as well, like the easy pour spouts and heat indicator in the pan surface. If you need something that will get the job done and not break the bank, definitely check these out.
What’s Best for You?
Which of these is best for you isn’t something I can really answer. If you cook infrequently and aren’t looking to spend a lot of time in the kitchen then you won’t need something expensive with premium features. On the other hand, if you have an induction stove or are really planning to get into cooking, then buying a better set will actually save you money on the other side. You won’t out use them and need to upgrade later.
